These seasoned pita chips are quick and easy way to make flavorful, crunchy chips, suited for dipping or crumbling for a crouton alternative on salads. Our inspiration for these chips is the Mediterranean Feta Dip recipe, so be sure to check it out! In addition, these chips are excellent for dipping into your favorite hummus.
Pita Chip Ingredients
You will need large pita rounds from the bakery section of your grocery store. A few spices from your collection, such as dried Italian seasoning (or basil, oregano, and thyme) and garlic salt, as well as olive oil are needed.
The Simple How To
First, cut the 4 pitas into 8 wedge triangles. We like to stack several rounds on top of one another and slice all at once, to ensure the most evenly cut pieces. There are several methods you can use for making these, and air-frying or pan-frying are our preferred methods:
- Air-Frying: Put the pita wedges into a mixing bowl and toss with olive oil, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and optional red pepper flakes. Air fry at 350 until lightly toasted or browned, tossing them one time in between to get them evenly crisped.
- Pan-Frying: Coat a large frying pan with olive oil. Add half of the pita wedges and season with half of the Italian seasoning and garlic salt. Toss to coat the pita triangles and brown slightly on both sides until crispy. Set the first batch aside on top of paper towel lined plate or bowl. Then, repeat this process with the next half of the pita chips.
Although making your own seasoned pita chips is an extra recipe in itself, we really think its worth it!
