Looking for a smooth and sweet happy hour cocktail? This elderflower lemonade is perfect for patio happy hours and entertaining. We (and by we, I mean Beth) spent months perfecting this refreshing and memorable drink. Elderflower liqueur is a special ingredient that adds an elegant sweetness, tending to smooth without overpowering any cocktail. Combined with lemonade and vodka, it may just be my favorite summer cocktail.
The Elderflower Factor
If you have ever seen this dainty and seemingly fragile bloom, you can see it is special. These blossoms are fleeting, only lasting a few days, thus requiring quick harvest and use for infusing with with sugar, lemon and vodka. It makes sense this process would be intricate, as the flavor of this liquor is subtle yet impactful.
The Elderflower Vodka Lemonade Ingredients
For this cocktail, collect your favorite vodka, limoncello liqueur, a lemon, elderflower liqueur (like St. Germaine), and a sparkling water (we prefer plain but lime flavor could work).
Making this Cocktail
First, add vodka, limoncello, elderflower liqueur to a cocktail shaker. Then, squeeze 1 lemon wedge into the shaker. Fill with ice & shake until the shaker is ice cold. Pour ice and cocktail into a tall glass and then top it with sparkling water. Lastly, garnish with lemon wedge and ENJOY!
*Special NOTE – for a less sweet taste, reduce the amount of limoncello.
Serve this Cocktail With…
Friends of course! Secondly, think summer and outdoor happy hour when making this Elderflower Vodka Lemonade. In Colorado, when we are desperate for summer, we may see an occasional sunny and warm day in Spring that inspires this cocktail as well. In Texas, there are many months of heat that lend themselves to serving this refreshing drink. Serve with the Mediterranean Feta Dip or as a compliment to the Prosciutto Cheese Wrapped Asapragus appetizer.
