The El Diablo cocktail is a marriage between your favorite margarita and the Moscow mule, complemented by a smooth, slightly fruity liqueur called creme de cassis.  Simply, it is smooth, refreshing and has a hint of nuanced sweetness.  Being Texas girls, we are partial to the margarita being the #1 go to, however, this El Diablo has gathered our legit support.  Don’t let the name fool you, this drink is joy in a cup!  For those of you entertaining for Halloween, El Diablo (meaning devil in Spanish), could easily star as your signature party drink.

El Diablo IngredientsEl Diablo ingredients: Hornitos silver tequila, a bottle of Creme de Cassis, a can of ginger beer, a small bowl of blackberries, and lime wedges laid out on a wooden cutting board.

This delicious cocktail has only 4 ingredients and ice.  You will need 2 oz silver tequila, juice of 1/2 of lime, 1/2 oz creme de cassis, and about 2 oz ginger beer (give or take depending on how strong you prefer).

Making this Cocktail

To ensure you have enough room for the ginger beer, you will first mix the ingredients in a glass and then add ice at the end.  First, measure out 2 oz silver tequila into a cocktail glass.  Then, add juice of 1/3 – 1/2 lime to your preference.  Next, add in 1/2 oz creme de cassis.  Now, add 2 oz ginger beer or more if you prefer a less strong cocktail.  Stir all of these together, and then add ice to fill the glass and stir again.  Finally, garnish with lime, blackberries, or other fruit as desired.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • juice of 1/2 of lime
  • 1/2 oz creme de cassis
  • ~ 2 oz ginger beer

Instructions

  1. First, add all ingredients, and then add ice at the end. This ensures enough room for the ginger beer.
  2. Measure out 2 oz silver tequila into a cocktail glass.
  3. Add juice of 1/3 – 1/2 lime to your preference
  4. Next, add in 1/2 oz creme de cassis
  5. Now, add 2 oz ginger beer or more if you prefer a less strong cocktail.
  6. Stir.
  7. Add / fill the glass with ice and stir again.
  8. Garnish with lime, blackberries, or other fruit as desired
