With fall officially upon us, we wanted to brainstorm and record a few of our favorite fall recipes.  The shift in weather and other fall indicators, such as football season and the approaching holidays, set a new tone for entertainment and style of cooking.  Still mourning the end of summer, but thinking about savory dinners, lazy Sunday breakfasts, friends gathering around football food, keeps us looking forward!

Grilling season is year-round for both of us, but the colder months do invite more indoor cooking for sure.  Also, the weather seems to instill a craving for dinners you can smell all day long cooking in the crockpot or flavors that fill the house from the stovetop.

One of our favorite savory Italian dishes is Chicken Marsala, perfect comfort food for fall weather and for entertaining y0ur favorite people.  Also, it is the start of chili season!  Are all of you always on the hunt for the perfect chili for your lifestyle?  Something easy but special can be hard to find.  We have one on that list for you to try, especially if you love the smokey flavor of poblano peppers.  Check out this recipe for Poblano Chicken and Sausage Chili and let us know what you think.

Fall Inspired Salads

Salads are a perfect side for savory fall dishes, and if you can maximize those fall flavors with accents like toasted pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries, even better.  We have a few favorites like this Harvest Salad or this Simple Italian Salad to go along with those heavier pasta dishes.

Lazy Sunday Breakfast

Sunday mornings with the windows open and not much on the schedule are few and far between, so when they come, we are ready and grateful.  Sleeping in and making a delicious, late breakfast is a favorite fall tradition in our homes.  During the week we are busy just trying to get through the meals, to make sure everyone is fed and ready for their commitments. We love when there is a Sunday that is about slowing down and enjoying!  If you feel the same, savor the lazy Sunday breakfast as we do.

Some of our favorite fall recipes for these Sundays include:

Football Food

Guacamole prepared in a square white bowl

Fresh & Easy Guacamole

So really, fall is football! Where we live, you can still enjoy the outdoors, entertain with casual events that flow indoors and outdoors at this time of year.  With football games on, you don’t want to be stranded in the kitchen, and miss out on the flow of fun.  Having go to football snacks, that are easy and delicious, can make or break a Sunday afternoon. We have a few make ahead apps that will allow you to enjoy the gathering as well.
