What could be better than a Brie and ham sandwich???? A melted Brie and ham sandwich, of course. If you are looking to add variety and flavor to your lunch options, this Brie and ham melt is an easy, delicious solution. We often make these on weekend days at home or when we have visitors in town.
Ingredient List
The ingredients of this sandwich could be delicious wrapped up in many different types of bakery breads, such as the brioche bun used in the picture, a croissant, baguette or any preferred style of bun. This brioche bun used in the photos has a sweeter richness that will be a great choice if you can find these in your bread selection.
We buy ham from the deli which is technically called “old fashioned uncured ham off the bone”, so it’s less processed than some of your deli meats out there. It also has better flavor, of course!
You could use a brie or camembert cheese. Camembert will have a slightly stronger, more earthy flavor, but both are delicious! You will also need a bit of spreadable butter, if using any bread other than a croissant.
How to Assemble your Brie and Ham Melt
First, slice the bread or bun open. Then, spread a thin layer of butter on both inner sides. Lay the ham slices on the bottom slice of bread or bun, then lay desired amount of cheese slices on top of the ham (3-4 recommended). Then close the bun. Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Et Voila!
Notes and Serving Suggestions
- Serve with fresh fruit, a side salad, like one of these: Simple Italian Salad or Summer Spinach Salad, or on cold days, homemade Roasted Tomato Soup!
- If using a croissant, you may skip the butter part of the instructions, as croissants are already very buttery.
- Use thicker slices of cheese for a more savory sandwich.
- We love this sandwich on Brioche buns!
