This melted Brie with toasted almonds & cranberries is a favorite holiday appetizer and has been for many years. It is full of flavor, and actually super simple to make.
Ingredients for the Melted Brie with Toasted Almonds & Cranberries
To make this appetizer, gather the following items: 1 small wheel of Brie (usually 8 oz), slivered almonds, dried cranberries, and a small amount of honey. When serving, you will need your favorite crackers or a sliced baguette.
To Make this Holiday Appetizer
First, preheat your oven to 350°. Next, to toast the almonds, turn the stove to medium-low and heat a small nonstick skillet. Add slivered almonds to the pan and heat them slowly until they are lightly toasted, using a wooden spoon or spatula to turn them occasionally. When they are finished, set them aside on a plate.
Next, unwrap the wheel of Brie, and then trim the rind off. Although trimming the rind is optional, I think it allows for better melting. See the image below.
Now you can place the wheel of Brie in a small oven-safe dish or a 5-inch iron skillet works great as well. Keep in mind, that the larger the dish, the more the Brie will spread out as it melts.
At this point, you can lay the dried cranberries on top of the Brie, and then drizzle honey on the cranberries. Drizzle it as evenly as you can, however, you don’t need to spread it all over the Brie as it will spread with the heat in the oven.
Put this in the oven for about 10 minutes, or when the Brie is almost melted through. Then, add the toasted almonds on top of the Brie and cranberries. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Everything should look melty and ready to eat.
Remove it from the oven and serve warm with your favorite crackers or a sliced baguette. Enjoy!
