Pomegranate Margarita Ingredients

This margarita is made with fresh ingredients.  Our advice is to stock up on these and you’ll have the makings of a festive cocktail on hand for those impromptu holiday happy hours.

You will need 2 ounces of silver tequila, 1/2 ounce of Cointreau, 1 ounce of pomegranate juice, 1 quick squeeze of agave, 1 lime, and 1/2 mandarin orange.  Garnishes could include a salted rim, mandarin or lime wheel/ slice, and pomegranate seeds. You can also add a sprig of fresh rosemary for visual appeal!

Orange Liqueur Tip:  I most often use Cointreau for the orange liqueur in margaritas, however, Grand Marnier or something similar will also be delicious.  There are some similar versions of these which are good but cheaper.  Make a trip to your local liquor store and ask for the knock-off of Cointreau.   I have tried one called Liqueur D’Orange made by Dolfi and imported from France which is almost half the price of Cointreau.

Making this Pomegranate Cocktail

For 1 margarita, you’ll need 1 lime (2 if they’re small), and 1/2 of a mandarin or clementine if available.  Squeeze or muddle all of the juice out of the lime and 1/2 mandarin into your cocktail shaker.

If you want the rim of your glass salted, use one of the lime pieces and rim the glass with lime juice. Then press the rim of the glass down into your margarita salt.

Measure 2 oz of silver tequila, 1 oz pomegranate juice, a quick squeeze of agave, and 1/2 ounce of Cointreau into your cocktail shaker.

Now we are ready to shake up the margie. Fill the shaker with ice.  Shake until the shaker is freezing cold and frosty on the outside. Pour into your salty glass.

Garnish with lime, mandarin, pomegranate seeds, rosemary, and/ or dehydrated oranges or blood oranges.
