This Black Bean Caviar Dip is a great appetizer for any party. It is always a hit, as it is unique and very flavorful. It is a twist on the traditional cowboy caviar, with a secret ingredient that no one ever suspects (the chopped black olives!). Even family and friends who claim not to like olives enjoy this black bean dip! Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Black Bean Caviar Dip Ingredients
One of the reasons I love this dip is that I typically have everything I need on hand to make it. You will need one can of black beans, one small can of chopped black olives, red or green onions, garlic, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, and chopped fresh cilantro. Tortilla chips or Fritos work best for serving and scooping.
How to Make this Dip
Making this ahead of time is recommended so you can chill it at least 4 hours before serving. Drain and rinse the black beans, and put them into a mixing bowl. Add chopped olives. Finely chop 1/2 cup of red onions or green onions, and add to the bowl. Next, add 2 cloves of pressed or finely chopped garlic. Mix these ingredients in the bowl. Now add olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine flavors. Rinse and pat dry the cilantro leaves. Chop 1/4 cup cilantro and then add to the bowl, stirring one last time to combine.
Place the dip in a sealable glass container and store in the fridge for 4-24 hours before serving. Scoop the desired amount into a serving bowl, alongside tortilla chips or Fritos.
